Do you take walk-ins, or do I need an appointment?

Walk-ins are always welcome at Barnhart's. Booking ahead is nice because it locks in your chair and the barber you want, but it isn't a requirement. If you're on the downtown Denton square and you want a haircut, come on in. Somebody's usually open, especially in the evening. Book online anytime, or call or text 903-830-1329.

How late are you open?

We're open until 10:30pm Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, until 10pm Monday through Wednesday, and until 9pm on Sunday. We open at 9am every day.

That makes us the latest-open barbershop in Denton. Most shops in town are locked up by 5 or 6. Get off work at seven, finish a night class at eight, or just decide at nine that you need a fade before tomorrow? We're still open and still cutting. When you book online, the system only shows times we can finish before close, so any slot you can pick is one we can actually do.

How much does a haircut cost?

A short haircut is $35, a medium-length haircut is $45, and a long haircut is $60. A bald or skin fade is $45, a buzz cut is $15, and a bang trim is $15. Short curly hair is $45 and long curly hair is $80. The Big Chop, long to short, is $60.

Kids' cuts are $30 short, $45 medium, and $60 long.

For beards and shaves: a short beard trim is $15, a long beard trim is $20, and you can add a razor finish to either for $15. A full face shave or a head shave, both done with a straight razor and hot towels, is $45.

Add-ons: shampoo is $15 short, $20 medium, $25 long. Blow dry and style is $15 short, $20 medium, $25 long.

Gift cards and service packages are available through our booking page if you'd rather give a haircut than guess at a size.

Where are you, and where do I park?

Barnhart's is at 110 W Oak St, Suite B, right on the downtown Denton square, a few doors off the courthouse lawn between Elm and Locust.

Parking's easier than folks expect. Street parking on Oak and the streets around the square (Hickory, Pecan, Elm, Locust, Cedar, Walnut, Austin) is two-hour parking from 8am to 5pm on weekdays, and free and unlimited every evening and all weekend. Since we're busiest in the evenings and on weekends, you can usually grab a spot out front and stay as long as you need. There are also a few free public lots within a five-minute walk.

Do you cut kids' hair?

Sure do. Kids' haircuts are $30 short, $45 medium, and $60 long, and you can book them online just like anything else.

When you book, you'll see which of our barbers do kids' cuts, so you can pick one and a time that works. We do a lot of first haircuts, a lot of back-to-school cleanups, and plenty of teenagers with very specific opinions about their fade. Nobody here rushes a nervous kid through the chair. If your child does better when it's quiet, call or text 903-830-1329 and we'll tell you when the shop tends to be calm.

Do you do straight razor shaves and beard work?

Yes — we do traditional straight razor shaves with hot towels, along with beard trims, goatee work, and head shaves.

A full face shave is $45 and takes about 45 minutes: pre-shave prep, hot towels, and a soothing shave cream so your skin is protected, finished with a straight razor for a clean, close result. A head shave is also $45 and works the same way — a hot towel to soften the hair first, then a straight razor finish. For beards, a short beard trim is $15 and gives you shaped, crisp lines, while a long beard trim is $20 and is done freehand to maintain your length and shape. You can add a razor finish to any beard trim or goatee for $15.

Is Barnhart's LGBTQ+ friendly? Do you do gender-affirming haircuts?

Yes. Barnhart's is a queer-friendly barbershop and we do gender-affirming services in a safe space. That's nothing new — it's been our shop policy for years, and we're the only queer barbershop in Denton.

Can I book with a specific barber?

Yep, and most of our regulars do. When you book online you can pick your barber first and then your service, or pick a service and see who offers it and who's free.

What if I need to cancel, or I'm running late?

Please cancel at least an hour before your appointment if you can. In this industry our time is literally our money, but we also know life happens and some things are out of your control.

If you're running late — traffic, class running over, work keeping you past the hour — just reach out and let us know. We can often still get you in for part of your service, or take a walk-in during your booked time so the chair isn't sitting empty. Telling us beats not showing up, every time.
